Doublestar launches Crossleader self-seal tyre
Qingdao, China-based Doublestar Tire recently announced that it has launched an aramid-reinforced puncture-sealing passenger car tyre under the Crossleader brand.
The company said the new “safe tyre” has been in development for two years and uses military grade aramid fibre in the sidewalls for high-impact resistance. According to the company, the reinforced sidewalls boost the tyre’s puncture resistance by 50 per cent to withstand an impact at up to 62 mph. Furthermore, the thicker sidewall design is said to make steel cord breakage less likely, which reduces the risk of bulges and blowouts. It also reportedly uses nanotechnology to repair punctures during running.
The tyre is manufactured at Doublestar’s newly updated industry 4.0 smart plant in Qingdao and is currently available for passenger cars with off-road, truck and bus applications said to be coming soon.
