Yuasa adds photo search to battery lookup site
The upgraded version of Yuasa Battery Europe’s online battery lookup system launched at this year’s Automechanika show in Frankfurt features a number of innovations, including a photo number plate lookup feature and live technical support across Europe. The lead-acid and lithium-ion battery supplier says the fully-updated site has been designed to help mechanics and technicians save valuable time and money, and reports that the system powering it has been remodelled to make it even more user friendly and fast. The system remains completely free to use and can be accessed online at fit.yuasa.co.uk or by pushing a Yuasa USB Smart Button.
Users can find the right starter or auxiliary battery for a vehicle simply by taking a photograph of its registration plate on their mobile device. The system then uses automatic number plate recognition to identify the vehicle and find the correct battery. Registration or VIN numbers can also be manually entered. The system, which is already used by over 75,000 mechanics and technicians also features a rapid make/model search, a comprehensive battery cross reference search and advanced browse battery functions.
“Our brand new online battery lookup system is far more than just a battery finder. It is the most powerful, user-friendly and fastest battery lookup resource available anywhere,” comments James Douglas, marketing executive at Yuasa battery Sales (UK) Ltd. “Along with having the widest coverage and greatest accuracy, we have developed lots of exciting advanced new features including photo number plate lookup and live technical support which allows users to chat to members of our technical team in real time whilst on the site.
“Yuasa are committed to being more than just a battery supplier,” Douglas adds. “We are constantly looking at new initiatives to help our customers get the information they need, offer great customer service and sell more batteries. Our new mobile friendly battery lookup tool will save our customers valuable time and money by allowing them to find detailed battery and fitting information quickly.”
Battery replacement has changed significantly in recent years, and the procedures involved for new vehicles are increasingly more complex and time-consuming. Yuasa’s new system displays a host of needed information such as battery type, fitting time and battery location in a clear and concise way. Furthermore, users can access detailed fitting instructions and battery information if required.
For vehicles with equipped with Start–Stop, the replacement battery must be the same specification as the original equipment unit, and the site will display the correct option for these vehicles. For standard ignition vehicles the system will present Yuasa’s good, better and best options with the corresponding features and benefits. Yuasa Battery Europe notes that this function offers workshops a useful tool for upselling.
