Trelleborg Wheel Systems wins Sri Lankan export accolade
The Trelleborg Wheel Systems manufacturing facility in Sri Lanka was recognised for its export achievements when it was honoured with a Presidential Export Award in a ceremony presided over by Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena in Colombo.
In the 25th edition of the annual Presidential Export Awards, designed to recognize companies who have helped the country’s economy through significant contributions to its exports, Trelleborg’s award for the “Highest Value Added Exporter of the Sector” was presented by Navin Disanayake, Minister of Plantation Industries.
Sanjay Melvani, Managing Director of Trelleborg’s manufacturing facility in Sri Lanka, says: “Trelleborg has manufactured in Sri Lanka for more than 25 years and we are proud to be a key contributor and partner in the Sri Lankan economy. Sustained high levels of exports continue to demonstrate our strength and quality. Our extraordinary results show the benefit of the internal commitment and excellence programs that we have undertaken in recent years. This is very much a combined effort, and I want to thank the various Trelleborg teams involved.”
Melvani highlights in particular work done by Trelleborg’s supply chain team to streamline the exports process from order through to delivery and the purchasing department that has concentrated on procuring raw materials locally.
Trelleborg Sri Lanka holds the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certificates relating respectively to quality control and environmental management systems. “High standards and an extraordinary commitment to quality allow us to produce global market leading premium products such as our premium resilient tires,” adds Melvani.
“Being known as a certified company that follows high standards and which continues to grow underlines the importance and positive effect of Trelleborg as a valued employer in the region.”
