Point S expands into Malaysia
Point S has launched in Asia, specifically Malaysia. Malaysia becomes the first country on the continent Asia to join the international network of independent tyre dealers after the group began in Europe and has since expanded into America and Africa.
The implementation of the brand will be operated through a master franchise agreement with GIIB Group (Goodway Integrated Industries Berhad) and partners, which will create a dedicated company to manage and develop the Point S network.
GIIB Group, created in 1990, is the Asia’s largest rubber compound exporter, tyre retreader and trader. Since 2005 and the acquisition of Big Wheel, based in Kota Kinabalu, GIIB Group is also involved in the tyre retail. Through the partnership with Point S, GIIB Group wishes to expand the retail side of its business and bring to the market the Point S retail concept proven in 30 countries in the world.
Tai Qisheng the co-CEO of GIIB Group commented: “We are very proud to bring Point S into Malaysia, after years of planning and to identify what are the gaps surrounding the industry. More importantly through this brand, we want to bring in a very unified service point for both car and commercial users into getting the right advice to what their needs should be.
“In addition, we also want to bring new level of business to the dealers and give them new competitive edge to excel in this industry.”
Two points-of-sale will be rebranded with the Point S colours in Malaysia. They will be used as showcase before the opening of 30 other points-of-sales within the next three years.
“Over the last two years we have been working on consolidating our network in Europe and accelerating our development in North America. Our expansion in Asia is now a strategic target for the coming years and is supporting our ambition to become a worldwide network. Malaysia is an attractive market to put a first feet in Asia. I am very pleased to cooperate with such a professional Group as GIIB”, Fabien Bouquet Point S International CEO commented.
