IAA premiere for Conti EfficientPro

Continental will introduce its new Conti EfficientPro steer and drive axle tyres at next week’s IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Germany. This new, rolling resistance optimised range, specifically developed for long-distance motorway transport, draws upon the technologies already used in Continental’s EcoPlus tyre series. All Conti EfficientPro fitments have been given an EU tyre label rating of ‘A’ for fuel efficiency.

Compared with the Conti EcoPlus, a 40 tonne semi-trailer truck fitted with Conti EfficientPro tyres on the steer and drive axles can achieve additional fuel savings of up to 0.64 litres over 60 miles. Over an annual distance of 75,000 miles, this equates to more than two tonnes fewer CO2 emissions per year, depending on vehicle type and speeds driven. Continental names the compounds used in the tyre tread’s multi-ply structure and optimised rolling resistance properties as factors influencing this difference.
