Bridgestone plants receive GM supplier awards

Tosu plant manager Osamu Iwakuni (l) and Hikone plant quality assurance manager Atsushi Morita present the two GM awards

The Tosu and Hikone plants – two of the ten tyre factories that Bridgestone operates in Japan – have received 2015 Supplier Quality Excellence Awards from the General Motors Company. The vehicle manufacturer officially handed Bridgestone the awards at a ceremony held at the Tosu plant on 18 August. This is the first time that the two plants have received a GM Supplier Quality Excellence Award.

“At Bridgestone, our mission is to serve society with superior quality, and we are truly honoured to receive this prestigious award,” said Tosu plant manager Osamu Iwakuni. “This award is a testament to our great relationship with GM, and the teammates at our Tosu and Hikone plants who are committed to meeting the needs of our customers first and foremost.”

The awards received by the two Japanese plants are in addition to 2015 Supplier Quality Excellence Awards given to Bridgestone plants in the USA (Wilson), Poland (Poznań), France (Bethune), Spain (Burgos) and Brazil (Santo André).
