AA Tyres grows 40%, firm expands into West Country
AA Tyres, the AA’s mobile tyre fitting service, has grown its fleet of vans by 40 per cent in response to escalating demand. The ten new Volkswagen Crafter vans will allow AA Tyres to push into the West Country, where the demand for mobile tyre fitting in Bristol, Bath and the surrounding areas is said to have surged. The AA’s mobile tyre fitting service is currently available between London, Birmingham and Manchester and the surrounding regions.
The new AA-liveried vans will expand the AA Tyres fleet to 35, allowing the service to fit a potential 25,000 extra tyres a year. The fleet will be equipped to change tyres, carry out puncture repairs and wheel balancing at a location convenient to the customer. The service is available to both AA and non-AA members.
Mark Shankland, co-founder of the AA’s mobile tyre fitting service, AA Tyres, comments:
“We’re still in the grip of the on-demand revolution, and it’s showing no sign of slowing. People have come to expect almost universal convenience offered by on-demand delivery from so many aspects of their daily routine, so shouldn’t it be the same with tyres?
“Our research indicates that people are still leaving it too late to get their tyres changed, simply because they can’t spare the time to drive to a depot and wait for the work to be carried out.
“With our newly-expanded fleet, we’re effectively bringing the depot to our customers. This means that that tens of thousands more drivers around the country have no need to put off this vital piece of maintenance simply because they can’t spare the time.
AA Tyres currently fits around 100,000 tyres a year, with around 50 per cent of its trade coming from ‘first timers’ – customers who’ve never used a tyre fitting service before. It turns over around £8 million every year.
