Kraiburg extends its portfolio in time for winter
European fleets are gearing up for the changeover to winter tyres – and Kraiburg Austria is catering to this by offering its partners a new city bus design, the K702 plus. The drive axle pattern’s design, says Kraiburg, lends itself to outstanding traction and braking characteristics. These qualities are particularly noticeable in extreme climiatic conditions, such as on snow-covered or wet road surfaces. The use of the premium K_plus compound delivers high mileage, even levels of wear and lower operating temperatures. The use of an irregular tread design also ensures that noise development is reduced.
“Our new tread fully meets our developmental goal of low operating costs together with high safety and optimal mileage,” comments Kraiburg Austria product manager Christoph Priewasser. “Its high quality and gut price-performance ratio makes it very attractive for regional applications.” The tread is initially available in a 240 millimetre width, with 230 and 260 millimetre widths available in autumn.
Kraiburg Austria is also expanding its K801 series, a pattern that has been available in both K-plus and K_tech compound versions for a number of years. The existing range of 295, 305 and 320 millimetre treads will be joined at the start of September by a 335 millimetre product. The K801 “doesn’t just look good, its roughened wing edges provide stability against lateral shearing forces. Moreover, they are roughened on the surface and help prevent the tread separating from the casing.” The wing edges also protect the K801 “additionally through a low tread motion and a particularly cool running compound. The longitudinal tread is designed for use with semi-trailer, trailer and trailing axles, and suited for both short and long distance applications.”
