Mercedes C Class affecting UK used vehicle trends: My Car Check
My Car Check’s valuation experts reveal significant trends in the UK used vehicle market and choose a car and bike of the month. Head of valuation services Gavin Amos said: “The launch of the new Mercedes C Class has made the previous generation models a great value route into this prestige brand. All 2007 onward derivatives are well built, drive beautifully and can stand the miles, with the economical yet powerful diesel variants particularly desirable. There are plenty out there to choose from and full main dealer service history is always a good start.”
As to market trends, Amos said: “Used car sales tend to dip a bit at this time of year as many buyers have the expense of the upcoming summer holiday on their mind. Dealers report that enquiry levels are down slightly but most used car values are holding firm and all good condition vehicles are still selling.”
On the motorbike, scooter and moped sector, My Car Check’s Rob Hobson said: “Our used bike of the month is the Suzuki GSR750, a model which is often overlooked but offers real biking fun. For buyers attracted by good looks and a more relaxed riding position, the GSX-R750 K5-based engine makes the GSR750 a great option.”
On market trends, Hobson said: “With the Isle of Man TT running over the middle weeks of June, showrooms on the mainland are naturally quieter than usual. However, the annual mass exodus can bring a flurry of activity soon after as people look to sell, swap or invest in a post-TT upgrade. Generally, the trade is running on a par with last year so those looking to buy a used bike over the next few weeks may pick up a bargain if they drop on the right deal.”
