Julian Woods named president GEA
Julian Woods, of Snap-on UK, has been appointed as president of the Garage Equipment Association (GEA), at the association’s recent AGM, which was held at the GEA offices in Daventry on 14 April 2016.
Woods manages the under vehicle product range for Snap-on UK, which includes: vehicle lifts, wheel alignment, wheel balancers, tyre changers, roller brake testers, MOT and AC equipment. A statement announcing the news said “Julian’s experience with these products will be extremely beneficial and help the association to move forward with its drive to improve safety and standards across the garage equipment industry.”
Woods, who also heads-up the GEA MOT Working Group, takes over from Neil Ebbs of MAHA UK, who has served as GEA president for the past two years.
His first public engagement for the association was during its recent annual dinner at which he said: “The GEA has become recognised as our industry’s body, for example, it has been raising standards within our industry by assessing and accrediting Vehicle Lift and MOT Equipment installation and service engineers. The accreditation scheme has helped us to drive up the standards within our industry and provides our customers with greater peace of mind. During my term as president I will focus on improving the standards of the whole industry and to encourage better training for young people.”
Woods’ next task is to help the GEA host the European Garage Equipment Association’s (EGEA) general assembly which takes place on the 20 May in Cambridge.
