Goodyear named Fortune’s most admired tyre maker
Goodyear Tire & Rubber has narrowly beat Michelin to be named Fortune magazine’s most admired tyre maker for 2016. The publication ranked Goodyear as its third most admired company in the motor vehicle parts category, ahead of Michelin at number five and Continental at number eight.
This is the fourth consecutive year that Goodyear has been the top-ranked tyre maker on the US publication’s most admired list; the company, which occupies 166th place on the Fortune 500 list, also finished in third place in the motor vehicle parts category in 2015. It occupied the top position in 2014. Michelin moved up one spot from last year’s sixth place, while Continental dropped one place from seventh.
Fortune has published its most admired list since 1983 and uses a rigorous assessment by nearly 4,000 executives, board directors and securities analysts to determine a company’s overall reputation by evaluating innovation, people management, use of assets, social responsibility, management quality, financial soundness, long-term investment, product/service quality and global competitiveness.
