JLR Solihull production back to normal following Goodyear Dunlop HQ fire

This image from the West Midland Fire Service shows damage to the building's upper floors

The fire that damaged Goodyear Dunlop’s UK headquarters site in Birmingham last week is said to have caused a blip in production at Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull factory, however the vehicle manufacturer states that operations there have fully resumed.

The tyre maker shares the Wingfoot Way premises with DHL TyreFort, a sequence centre that supplies vehicle components to the Solihull plant. Video released by West Midlands Fire Service indicates that parts of the building were significantly damaged by the fire, and the adjacent warehouse reportedly suffered smoke damage.

One comment left on the Tyrepress.com site last Friday suggests that the fire’s effects disrupted the DHL TyreFort computer distribution system, causing the JLR Solihull plant to shut down. While we’ve heard no specific details regarding the DHL computer system, a Jaguar Land Rover spokesperson told Tyrepress.com that the fire had a “temporary impact” upon the Solihull plant. She added that the facility has now returned to full production.
