Get ‘Fit Kwik’ with Kwik-Fit
Happy New Year, and welcome to 2016. Those of you who’ve resolved to get in shape or lose a few pounds in the coming 12 months may want to head over to kwik-fit.com/fitkwik, as the fast fitter has developed a programme guaranteed to be free from Lycra, kale juice and carrot sticks.
Kwik-Fit describes its new fitness class as ‘back to basics’. It was designed by Kwik Fit technicians together with personal trainer Mikah Simpson, and boasts an equipment list that reads like a tyre retailer’s inventory. The programme is being trialled this month at the fast fit network’s New Kent Road centre in London, with free 30 minute sessions being held on Sunday mornings throughout January. The class consists of tyre flips, lifts and throws, and Kwik-Fit says participants can expect to burn up to 1,200 calories during a session.
The class was devised after Kwik-Fit technicians noticed a link between their fitness levels and the amount of time spent lifting hefty tyres on a daily basis. “There’s no doubt tyres are a brilliant foundation to a work out – not only for lifting, but on the floor during cardio exercises,” comments Simpson. “The most important thing when getting fit is to simply get started and do something you enjoy. We promise to create a fun atmosphere and leave participants feeling that they’ve done something worthwhile.”
