Video: new race car for Falken Motorsport

Falken Motorsport’s new car will hope to improve further on an excellent podium finish in the 24H Nuerburgring

Falken Motorsport will introduce a new car for the forthcoming 2016 season. A teaser video showcasing some of the new machine’s engineering is available to view in the article below, and on the Sumitomo tyre brand’s YouTube channel.

The new car features a water-cooled six-cylinder engine and weighs 1,220kg. Compared to its predecessor, the wheelbase is 8.3cm longer for more balanced weight distribution. Extensive use of carbon fibre and Kevlar sees the roof, front lid, front end, wings, doors, side panels, rear clip and lid now manufactured in composites. All windows are made of ultra-light polycarbonate. The three radiators used in Falken’s previous vehicle are replaced by a single unit. As a result of these extensive measures, the new car is almost 60kgs lighter than its predecessor.

Following testing at Portimao in early December, Falken’s new car is being prepared at the workshops of Falken Motorsports’ team principal, Sven Schnabl.  Meanwhile in Japan, Falken’s tyre experts are engaged in advanced development of the tyres that will be fitted to the car in the upcoming racing season.
