Pirelli Carlisle not flooded, but firm helping locals during floods

With record amounts of rain falling over the weekend of 5 and 6 December and floods across the Lake District and Cumbria, Pirelli has confirmed that its Carlisle factory has not been flooded, however local disruption has been caused by flooding on many surrounding roads.

A Pirelli spokesperson said: “Although our factory itself is not flooded, many of the roads and surrounding areas have been severely affected by the storm over the weekend. A number of our employees have their homes in some of the worst affected parts of the city. We are working with them to provide assistance during this extremely difficult time. There are also other local businesses that have been devastated by the floods, and we are offering temporary office space at our site for those in need. For the wider community we will be taking clothes, food, water and toiletries, donated from both the company and employees, to the nearby evacuation centres to assist those affected in the short term.”
