Continental’s Degenhart receives University Society honour
Continental AG Executive Board chairman Dr Elmar Degenhart has been awarded the Karmarsch commemorative medal by the Leibniz Universitätsgesellschaft Hannover e.V (Leibniz University Society) in Hannover, Germany. Degenhart received his honour for special services towards the promotion of technology and business.
The Karmarsch commemorative medal, named after the first director of the institute that preceded today’s university, was first given in 1925 and is awarded every two years. Recipients are recognised for outstanding services in scientific research as well as the promotion of economic developments.
The medal honours Dr Degenhart as an extraordinary engineer and business personality within the automotive supply industry. He received the award in particular for his exemplary achievement together with the global Continental team during the company’s realignment and further development.
The Die Leibniz Universitätsgesellschaft Hannover e.V. was founded in 1921 and today has over 1,500 members. In past years it has provided considerable financial support to Leibniz University, its institutes, scientific staff and students. It manages six foundations and numerous fund assets.
