Kara Rouse named Trucker of the Year
Insurance broker Staveley Head has announced Kara Rouse from Derbyshire as the inaugural winner of the Trucker of the Year competition, in partnership with Trucking Magazine. Throughout October, the UK public nominated deserving HGV drivers from all over the country to be named as Staveley Head’s Trucker of the Year. The first of its kind, the competition aimed to showcase the unsung heroes of the trucking industry, whom for many trucking is so much more than just a day job.
Following over 100 entries, 12 worthy finalists were chosen by Staveley Head and Trucking Magazine throughout October, with the overall winner announced on social media today.
Kara Rouse, received ten nominations, more than any other nominee, and was praised for her hard work, care in the community and ongoing charity work for Cancer Research UK, all while raising her three children as a single parent.
Of her win, Rouse said, “I am so excited, I can’t believe I have been nominated by so many. I have found the nominations very moving; after all I am just being me.”
This is not the first time Rouse has been in the spotlight within the trucking community, Kara is also known for her appearance on Watch’s Bin There Dump That! TV series, which was aired in February. Rouse is also a passionate fundraiser for Cancer Research UK and has created a trucking girls calendar with the aim of raising £10,000 for the charity.

Rouse wins a Virgin Experience Gift Card, a feature in Trucking Magazine and the title of first-ever Trucker of the Year. The full interview will be featured in the January issue of Trucking Magazine, out on 11 December.
