British manufacturer wins German ‘Motorsport Technology of the Year’ award
Launched earlier in 2015, and fitted by many technical partners on the grids and stages of world motorsport, Lazer Lamps’ new Triple R LED lighting range has received the Professional Motorsport World Expo ‘Motorsport technology of the Year’ award. The British manufacturer has been the choice of several leading teams for a few years now, with endurance stalwarts like Bentley and Aston Martin relying on the firm’s products to keep them out front at night. Similarly, Ford’s M-Sport WRC division has regularly enjoyed success behind the exceptional lighting performance of various Lazer Lamps products.
The Triple R range, which uses clever new reflector, cooling and breathing technology, gives discernible and usable driving light that carries over 1.2 kilometres. The firm has also recently enhanced the design with an ‘E-Boost’ function. This allows the lights to carry full EU approval and switch between road and motorsport capability while remaining fully road legal – perfect for strictly regulated road rallies.
The company states that being shortlisted at these prestigious awards was an honour in itself, especially when that array of luminaries is more closely examined. Blue chip names and leading products like ATL’s Scavenge System; Greaves3D Engineering’s EPSR-015 fuel rig; Converge’s CFD software; and GEMS’ powerful EM80 ECU were all up for the this year’s title.
Collecting his award, Ben Russell-Smith, Lazer Lamps managing director, commented: “We are simply delighted to receive this award for the Triple R range, and it’s a fantastic payback for our team of designers and technicians back in the UK that have developed this technology. It’s wonderful that lighting has been recognised as a vital element in the team’s toolbox, and to have won against such brilliant opposition makes this even sweeter for us. Thanks must also go to our teams and technical partners who give us the best field-testing and feedback we could wish for!”
