Al Dobowi appoints new group CEO
Al Dobowi Group, which is well known for importing and exporting tyres around the world, has appointed Malcolm Wall Morris as group chief executive officer effective immediately. This is the first time Al Dobowi has appointed a group CEO in the company’s 40-year history. According to Al Dobowi representatives, the decision – taken in the firm’s 40th anniversary year – reflects the understanding that the family business “needs to develop and evolve to ensure that we are best positioned to continue growing for the next 40 years”.
As a result of the appointment, company founder Surender Kandhari and son Jasjeev Kandhari will steadily hand over all day-to-day operational responsibilities to Morris and his management team so as to ensure a smooth transition. However, the family’s commitment to the business remains with Jasjeev Kandhari becoming vice chairman and Surender Kandhari becoming chairman, while remaining actively involved with the group as directors and board members.
Malcolm Wall Morris brings experience of executive and leadership roles in the commodities, financial services, trade finance, general trading, property development, packing and processing, logistics and facilities management industries. He was most recently CEO of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC). According to Al Dobowi, which is based in Dubai, the DMCC has become one of Dubai’s biggest success stories during the last five years and now ranks as one of the Dubai government’s top assets.
