VW Touran to get Hankook self-sealing tyre
More Hankook Tire news, again from the IAA in Frankfurt. The tyre maker reports that its first self-sealing tyre, the newly-developed Ventus Prime² SEALGUARD, will be supplied to Volkswagen as an original equipment tyre. The first VW to be shipped with the self-sealing tyre is the Touran, which will wear the Ventus Prime² SEALGUARD in size 215/55R17.
“We are proud to announce that Hankook Tire will successfully begin to supply its Ventus Prime² SEALGUARD to Volkswagen’s compact Touran MPV as our first self-sealing tyre OE contract, thus further strengthening our longstanding relationship with the Volkswagen Group.” said Ho Youl Pae, head of Hankook Tire Europe. “Based on our proven state-of-the-art technology, we will further diversify our SEALGUARD OE business in the future.”
Tyres equipped with SEALGUARD contain a tacky, viscous material that is coated from shoulder to shoulder on the tyre’s inside. When punctured, damage of up to 5mm in diameter is immediately sealed.
