Tyres in Stock B2B web shop operating in the UK
Following the launch of Tyres in Stock in the Netherlands in January 2010, the company has embarked on an international expansion plan that has seen the company grow to cover nine markets across Europe. The latest is the UK, which kicked off in the fourth quarter of 2014 and is said to be going from strength to strength.
Utilising a business-to-business model means Tyres in Stock exclusively works with tyre dealers and not consumers. However, free registration makes the site accessible to anyone in the trade. Once signed up a dealer can browse a “virtual stock” of over 30 million tyres, which are supplied by up to 200 suppliers from around Europe and even further afield.
Each search result contains product details, labelling information, price and estimated delivery time. Many of these products take a day or two to arrive, which may be more than mainland just-in-time deliveries, but when you consider that Tyres in Stock prides itself on being able to get tyres that others can’t and that they are often cheaper at doing this, you see the strength of the system. “We seldom say no,” company founder Simon Klapwijk told Tyres & Accessories, adding “we sometimes even fly tyres over from the US or Japan”.
The point is that having a bespoke system is good, but it must be supported by good service and that human touch. That’s why, in addition to free registration, a wide product offering (which includes car, 4×4, SUV and right up to light truck products), the firm offers free delivery to anyone purchasing two tyres or more, sales manager Danny Slingerland explained. On top of this, invoicing of the wide supplier base that makes up the virtual stock is also taken care of by Tyres in Stock itself.
Continuing expansion
With nine markets in five years under its belt, Tyres in Stock continues to grow. Plans for the future include expansion into the Scandinavian markets plus Spain and Italy. Product wise the addition of truck and bus tyres is next on the agenda in the second half of 2016.
Tyres in Stock currently operates in: Holland, Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Turkey and the UK.
