New car registration growth most prominent in England – SMMT
Following up today’s release of August new car registration data, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has added country-based statistics showing that England is leading the way from the home nations. New car registrations in England rose 10.80 in August to 65,449, leaving year to date figures 7.61 per cent up on 2014 (1,392,584). Welsh registrations grew relatively quickly in August too (5.93 per cent to 2,573), helping the country to a year-to-date increase of 2.70 per cent (57,523). Scotland and Northern Ireland also saw accelerated growth in August (up 3.67 and 2.11 per cent respectively), but remain relatively flat in year-to-date figures (2.70 and -0.12 per cent growth respectively).
