Giovinazzi wins 25th Zandvoort F3 Masters, supported by Kumho S700 tyres

Kumho has supported the Formula Three Masters at Zandvoort for well over a decade

The 25 lap grand final of the Zandvoort Formula Three Masters was won by Italian Antonio Giovinazzi, fighting off a determined challenge from fellow Carlin driver, the UK’s George Russell. The event was run on Kumho’s S700 tyres; the Korean manufacturer has supplied the event since 2002, and had a strong presence at the 18-20 September event.

The tyre on which the Masters final was run was the latest version of Kumho’s S700 slick. The competition tyre is available in 13, 15, 17 and 18-inch sizes and hard, medium and soft compounds. The wet weather version, the W700, was also available to the teams throughout the weekend.

Giovinazzi said: “I saw George was behind me and I did the first three laps 100 percent, after which I saved my Kumho tyres for the end of the race.” In becoming the Masters champion, the 21-year-old follows in the wheel tracks of reigning World Champion Lewis Hamilton and other current Grand Prix stars Valtteri Bottas and Nico Hülkenburg; not to mention the senior formula’s youngest ever recruit, Max Verstappen, who won the Masters meeting last year.

Kumho invited guests from Sweden and the UK, including Dawa Däck and their customers, and representatives from commercial tyre specialists Barry Shaddick Tyres and Jetyres. They were treated to a weekend of motorsport and excursions to Amsterdam, with Kumho’s head of sales for Northern Europe, Sungyong Lee also in attendance. The party enjoyed the ‘Heineken Experience’ and a canal tour of the city before dining at Staets Restaurant. At the circuit, the group took garage tours of the competing teams; chatted with up-and-coming young Indian driver Arjun Maini; posed for a photoshoot with the Kumho Tyre grid girls; and walked the grid prior to the start of Sunday’s race. For the finale, Kumho’s guests were addressed by the race winner in their hospitality suite.
