Cooper Tire introduces new winter products
Cooper Tire Europe reports the introduction of a new line – the WM-SA2+ – into its winter tyre portfolio and the addition of 25 new sizes to its existing Weathermaster WSC SUV/4×4 range.
The WM-SA2+ alpine passenger car tyre features the latest compound technology developed at Cooper Tire Europe’s European Technical Centre in Wiltshire, and is available in a variety of T-rated sizes for 13 to 16-inch rim diameters and H/V speed rated sizes for 15 to 18-inch rim diameters. The H and V-rated sizes contains Cooper’s latest high-silica tread compound, which is said to deliver improved snow, slush and wet traction, while T-rated version utilises a compound that, according to Cooper, “delivers the same uncompromising performance” as its higher-rated siblings. It also features Tapered Alternating Groove (TAG) Technology and forward-facing shoulder grooves, which Cooper says greatly enhance braking ability, while its backward-facing centre groove aims to improve traction.
The Weathermaster WSC SUV/4×4 studdable alpine winter tyre, the newest addition to Cooper’s winter range, is now available in an additional 25 new sizes with fitments ranging from 16 to 20-inch rims. The new size range covers all of the most popular 4x4s and SUVs, including Land Rover Discovery 4, Land Rover Freelander, most Range Rover models, VW Tiguan, Audi Q3 and Q5, Nissan Qashqai, Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V. Its high-silica polymer, low-modulus tread compound is designed to provide increased grip on icy, slushy and wet surfaces.
“We have put a significant amount of resource and energy into ensuring that our winter range is as up-to-date and technologically-advanced as possible,” comments Derek Carruthers, sales and marketing director at Cooper Tire Europe. “The new Weathermaster WSC sizes cover a very extensive list of vehicles, meaning we should have something for the vast majority of 4×4 and SUV drivers out there. Meanwhile, the new WM-SA2+ benefits from our very latest high-silica compound, giving optimum road-holding and handling capabilities for drivers.”
Cooper says orders are open now for distributors, with stock expected to be on the shelves for end user customers from October onwards.
