Pirelli nominates F1 tyre compounds for Silverstone, Hungaroring, Spa, and Monza

Pirelli has confirmed the 2015 tyre choices up to its home grand prix in Italy, with a third outing of 2015 for the P Zero Orange hard tyre at Silverstone. The fast British circuit, next on the agenda for Formula One, will see Pirelli supply its P Zero White medium too, meaning the hardest tyres in the line-up will be utilised for the second time in two years.

This race will be followed by the Hungaroring, Spa and Monza, where the P Zero White medium and P Zero Yellow soft tyres have been nominated. The use of the same tyres at three tracks with varied characteristics is designed to show the versatility of the latest Pirelli F1 specifications.

Temperatures can be very high at the Hungaroring, so the selection will provide resistance to thermal degradation. Spa is the longest lap of the year, where the medium and soft should provide consistent performance. Monza is Pirelli’s home race and the ‘temple of speed’, with the two tyres set to open up interesting possibilities for race strategy, Pirelli says. The Monza allocation is the only one different from 2014, when the harder P Zero Orange tyre was used rather than the P Zero Yellow soft.

The latest allocation announcement therefore sees the continuation of Pirelli’s 2015 season policy of providing adjacent compounds at every race.
