Mitas promotes ERL-30

Following the launch of the ERL-30 at Intermat in Paris, Mitas is promoting the 29.5 R25 ERL-30 tyre, which will be available for worldwide sales in September 2015. ERL tyres are used on loaders, dozers and graders in mining operations. The all-steel radial construction of Mitas 29.5R25 ERL-30 tyre is particularly designed for large wheel loaders such as Liebherr L 586 and Caterpillar 980. The Mitas ERL series features 12 various tyres of 28 to 90 mm tread depth.

The ERL tyres response to segment demand for high load capacity and treads pattern which are particularly resistant to wear even. Thus the whole Mitas ERL/ERD line is radial with a steel-enforced carcass and steel breakers.

According to the company, several Mitas OTR tyres underwent severe tests in open mines in Russia and proved performance comparable with premium brands. For example the Mitas 26.5R25 193B ERD-40 has been tested by JSC Tuchkovsky KSM in Russia on Volvo A35D dump trucks since May 2012. The tyres are said to be in good condition after more than 11,000 operating hours.

Looking at market developments in recent years, Mitas representatives shared their view that the industrial tyre market showed positive development in 2014. Their data suggests, western European markets grew almost 3 per cent compared with 2013, and central and eastern European markets, (except Russia) grew even more strongly. “At Mitas we are expecting this trend to continue also in the 2015 and that is why Mitas had continuously invested in new production facilities for industrial tyres at its plant in Zlin, the Czech Republic. Thanks to these investments Mitas plans to produce even larger sizes of OTR and radial forklift tyres in near future”, company representatives told Tyres & Accessories in answer to our questions.
