Fruehauf announces MWSD partnership
A new agreement has seen UK aluminium and steel wheel distributor MWSD become a leading supplier to tipping trailer manufacturer Fruehauf
The UK’s leading manufacturer of tipping trailers, Fruehauf has selected Motor Wheel Service Distribution (MWSD) as a leading supplier for both forged aluminium and steel wheels. The agreement includes technical support and supply of commercial vehicle wheels for the company’s complete range of tipper units, from the 38 cubic yard, 5.25 tonne Halfpipe Aluminium through to the 115 cubic yard, 10.4 tonne Aluminium Bulk Ejector.

Last year MWSD announced that its commercial vehicle wheel safety campaign had been successfully incorporated in the new European Union (EU) Roadworthiness Package, which became law in May 2014 and must be implemented by Member States by May 2017.
Following adoption by both the European Parliament and European Council, the new law states ‘compatibility between parts and components, such as between wheels and wheel hubs, should be treated as a critical safety item and should be checked during roadworthiness testing’.
The company also welcomed the Department for Transport’s report into wheel safety and the Government’s classification of CV wheels as ‘safety critical’, however it remains sceptical of the findings and has stated it will continue to lobby the Government for change.
