Kumho to support Twin Busch at Nürgburgring 24 hours
Nürgburgring-based VLN Championship front runner Twin Busch will be fitted with Kumho tyres when the privateer starts the 24 hour race this weekend. The squad’s history in the race includes a tenth place finish overall behind nine works outfits last year. Kumho wants to help the team to eclipse that result on 16-17 May.
On this occasion the twins, Dennis and Marc Busch, will be sharing their Audi R8 LMS Ultra with Dutch driver Christiaan Frankenhout. And, such is their determination to succeed, that they decided to forego the second round of the VLN Championship in order to carry out a major tyre test with the assistance of Kumho’s motorsport department. The results were very encouraging and in the team’s own words: “The production machines are now running at full speed in the Far East, so we can have Kumho’s ‘Black Gold’ in sufficient quantity. Furthermore, Christiaan is an experienced Nordschleife driver with plenty GT3 experience, so we are particularly well positioned for this year’s event.”
Kumho’s European motorsport manager Manfred Theisen added: “Kumho is also looking forward to this latest endurance test for man and machine. Our specially-developed tyres mean we are fully prepared for the task in hand and we are very much hoping for a good result.”
