Mitas unveils two new CR-01 crane tyre sizes

A total of three Mitas CR-01 crane tyre sizes are now available following the introduction of two additional fitments. The new tyres will be on display at the Intermat exhibition in Paris from 20 to 25 April (stand E051, hall 5a), and Andrew Mabin, Mitas’ marketing and sales director, confirms that “new sizes of CR-01 crane tyres are now ready for shipment to our customers.” The new CR-01 sizes are 385/95R25 CR-01 170F TL and 525/80R25 CR-01 176F TL. These tyres are respectively designed for speeds of up to 80 km/h (50 mph) and 90 km/h (56 mph).

The maximum operational load capacity of the size 525/80R25 tyre is 17,750 kg, and 7,100 kg at 80 km/h and under 7 bar. It has a 28 mm deep tread pattern, meets the requirements for winter conditions and can also operate in mud. Mitas says the tyre offers six per cent lower rolling resistance than a standard mobile crane tyre thanks to its all-steel construction, and it is retreadable.

All CR-01 sizes feature ‘Mitas-Link’, a connection between tread blocks said to increase tyre life while limiting tread movement, even at speeds of up to 90km/h. Mobile cranes move fast on roads, and Mitas-Link keeps tyre thread lugs in a fixed position, which allows for better control of the vehicle and preserving off-road traction. These links also reduce noise levels by blocking the noise generated within the tyre tread from spreading. “Mitas CR-01 is a durable and reliable tyre. It handles the weight of the crane and the load,” observes Mabin.

The two new sizes complement the existing 445/95R25 CR-01 fitment; Mitas supplies the range to major original equipment customers such as Liebherr and Manitowoc.
