Michelin Classic tyres return to Australia
From May, owners of vintage and classic cars in Australia will once again be able to select suitable tyres from the Michelin Classic and Competition ranges. Approximately 90 product lines for vehicles manufactured between the 1930s and late 1970s will be offered, with motorsport tyre distributor Stuckey Tyre Service acting as distributor.
According to Michelin Australia managing director Cedric Binoit, the decision to bring the range back to Australia was prompted by increasing demand. “Michelin is pleased to be able to offer this highly popular range again to our Australian customers. Through Stuckey Tyre Service we are providing easier access and improved service to vintage car owners looking to fit Michelin tyres to their prized vehicles. Not only will they be able to keep the original look and feel of their vehicle, they will also benefit from improved safety and performance.”
Tyres in the Michelin Classic ranges are manufactured in small production runs, often by hand. They reproduce the exact configuration of the model of the time in terms of size, tread pattern and aspect ratio, thereby ensuring the vehicle remains entirely in keeping with the period. “Tyre safety and performance have come a long way since these cars were first manufactured, but thanks to continuous innovation and technological leadership from Michelin, these tyres benefit from the progress made in performance,” Binoit adds. “However, the visual characteristics of these tyres remain consistent with those of the vehicles of time.”
