Bosch launches new DCU220 diagnostic tool

Bosch is billing its tablet-come-notebook diagnostic tool as its flagship model

Bosch has launched a diagnostic tool, which the company says its “flagship” model. The DCU 220 is designed to be a “future-proof diagnostic solution, giving businesses the ability to tackle the increasing number of complex vehicles on the road”, according to Bosch. Indeed, the company reports that the DCU220 combines the features of a traditional notebook with those of a tablet.

With the ability to switch between tablet and notebook mode, the 11.6-inch touchscreen monitor features an easy-to-carry handle and can be turned and rotated, converting into a tablet. However, for more complex diagnostic work, technicians have the use of a conventional qwerty keyboard for data entry and retrieval.

The DCU 220 has the IP65 rating, ensuring that it’s resistant to a wide variety of contaminates found in workshop environments. As well as proving tough in the workshop, the Windows-compatible unit has a solid state drive along with 4 GB RAM for boot up speed and quick operation. Internal RAM memory is expandable to 8 GB to help give the product a longer service life. It is also wifi-equipped and has an integrated HD camera, which allows the vehicle features to be documented and the required spare parts photographed.

Using Bosch’s ESI(tronic) 2.0 and CompacSoftplus software, the DCU 220 links to Bosch’s leading KTS Series modular diagnostic system via a high-performance Bluetooth (Class 1) connection. Combined with the KTS Series, the DCU 220 is also fully equipped to exploit the benefits of PassThru as it grows in popularity with vehicle manufacturers.
