Pirelli offering ‘complete lifecycle management’ for fleets
Pirelli aims to offer “identical quality for all the tyre lives of its fleet customers” as of its “complete lifecycle management” offer for fleets. Indeed, the manufacturer reports that Pirelli’s retreading system is aimed at increasing Pirelli casing value through two key elements: tyre conception and production quality and optimised range of Novateck products.
Chris Evans, director of Truck Business Unit at Pirelli, explained: “Retreading isn’t just a product that we offer; it’s all part of a range of services and tools that our customers can utilise to help them be able to simply concentrate on their core business.
“Lifecycle management is one of these tools dedicated to fleets developed by Pirelli, to enable operative cost efficiency, ease tyre maintenance and management, while optimizing fuel consumption and reduce CO2 emissions.”
Network of retreaders
After a period of demanding technical auditing, Pirelli has selected and certified a network of retreaders across Europe that will ensure consistent quality of the new tyre even after retreading. The technical audit inspects all retreading processes starting from casing selection where strict rules are applied, to control procedures during the different stages of the retreading process.
The machinery used also needs to comply to the highest standards with latest investment including the most up-to-date high-pressure mould system which is used to produce the key 295/80R22.5 TR:01 drive tyre.
The quality audit, is not only mandatory for being part in Pirelli’s certified retreader network, but is also ongoing, with Pirelli’s Quality Department experts aiming to ensure a constant retreading process, quality over time.
In addition Pirelli reports that it maximises its retreadability service at the very start of the conception of a tyre due to the materials it selects. All the variables in tyre production will impact on the tyre during the whole life cycle and these need to be taken into account also for ensuring higher retreadability.
According to the company, Pirelli’s Novateck treads use only Pirelli original tread patterns in order to ensure they match with the casing even after the first life. This move is designed to ensure performance and quality similar to the ones of new products.
