Dunlop Sport Maxx RT original equipment tyre on the Mercedes-AMG C63

Dunlop will supply original equipment tyres to the new Mercedes AMG C63 and C63 T models. The Dunlop Sport Maxx RT ultra high performance tyre is the result of extensive joint development work with Mercedes-AMG, with the base tyre adapted to meet the new car’s needs. The tyre was subjected to race track testing on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, regarded as one of the most challenging tracks in the world.

The Dunlop Sport Maxx RT features wet and dry grip, stable high speed corner handling strong braking characteristics tailored to the 476HP C63’s performance. The tyre is balanced between front and rear axles with a specially tuned construction derived from motorsport compounds.

“In order to achieve the high dry handling requirements, a mixture is used with a high proportion of different fillers, resins and special polymers, delivering the strong dry grip,” Percy Lemaire, director tyre technology at Goodyear Dunlop explained. The Dunlop Sport Maxx RT is made for the front axle in a size 245/35 ZR19 (93Y) XL, for the rear 265/35 ZR19 in (98Y) XL.

In addition to the recent fitment Dunlop has developed specifically designed tyres for Mercedes AMG models including the A 45 AMG, the CLA 45 AMG and the G 63 AMG. Dunlop is also partner of AMG Customer Sports and since the start of the 2014 season, the official tyre partner of the AMG Driving Academy.
