Banerji to help Apollo Tyres over the ‘cusp of next global growth phase’
As reported on 6 February, Raj Banerji has succeeded Sunam Sarkar as chief financial officer at Apollo Tyres Ltd. Commenting on Banerji’s appointment, company vice-chairman and managing director Neeraj Kanwar said: “We are on the cusp of our next phase of growth globally. Having a person like Raj join our global team at this crucial time, with a strong international experience, will provide further impetus to this growth, and at the same time, contribute to the organisation’s overall financial health and stability.”
Banerji’s last assignment was with one of India’s largest private companies, where he worked as chief financial officer for the firm’s refining business. Prior to that, he spent some 20 years with BP (formerly British Petroleum) in various leadership roles in oil exploration, commodity trading, marketing and refining. With a total of 24 years of employment experience in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, Banerji has handled key functions such as investor relations, corporate finance, planning and performance management and risk management. In his new role, Banerji will report to Neeraj Kanwar.
