Nexen OE on Fiat 500X
Nexen is to supply the Fiat-Chrysler Group with its CP 671 tyre for fitment on the 500X, Fiat’s first crossover model. The Nexen-Fiat contract will see Nexen supply original equipment (OE) tyres from February, when the 500X enters production.
As the first crossover utility vehicle (CUV) released by Fiat, the 500X is characterized by its larger exterior and the advantages it has over the existing 500 series in design and practicality. The model was first showcased at the Paris Motor Show held last October.
Nexen Tire will supply a 17-inch CP671 tyre for the 500X vehicles for the North American market, which will be assembled at the Melfi Plant in Italy.
The CP671 tyre has been supplied to Chrysler’s 200 models. According to the tyre maker, it features mileage performance particularly well-suited to long-distance driving and an upgraded noise reduction technology.
Nexen Tire has supplied tyres for the 500L model since 2013. The company reports that it plans to increase the range of models it supplies by leveraging the OE tyre supply for the 500X. And of course the Korean tyre manufacturer “hopes to continue its relationship with FCA in the future”.
