Michelin MotoGP tyres made ‘good start’ in testing – HRC’s Aoyama
Honda Racing Corporation’s Hiroshi Aoyama has told MotoGP’s official website that his first contact with Michelin’s tyres – at Sepang testing at the end of 2014 – made him feel “comfortable”. He added that while conditions were hot, and he would want to improve the bike’s interaction with Michelin’s rubber, “tyre performance was already quite good.”
While his praise is hardly effusive, Aoyama’s comments show that the handover of MotoGP tyre supply is progressing at an earlier stage than in certain other top level motorsport series. The French manufacturer will take over from Bridgestone as the exclusive tyre supplier to the series in 2016, and all riders will have an opportunity to try out the latest prototype slicks at the second Sepang test.
