Paul Malin confirmed for Bridgestone Apex Motocross event
Bridgestone says it is “ramping up its plans to make 2015 a year to remember in the world of motocross” after securing the services of a multiple British champion to promote its tyre range. Paul Malin will add his presence to Bridgestone’s day of riding at Apex Motocross in Worcester on 19 February, which will showcase the brand’s X30 and X40 motocross tyres. Seven-time Dakar Rally competitor Mick Extance will also get to grips with the tyres during a day that promises to be one of the biggest and most comprehensive motocross events ever organised by Bridgestone.
The former world number two and ‘MX of Nations’ winner will test the products and get a feel for the tyres at the free riding day, which is open for enthusiasts to attend from 10am to 3pm. The day of riding will also feature guest appearances by Motors TV commentator Amy Dargan and Bike Channel presenter Suzy Taylor. Both presenters will be on hand to sign autographs, pose for pictures and add their familiar voices to proceedings.
Two Kawasaki KX250Fs and a pair of Kawasaki KX450s will be available to ride on the day, and should riders wish to use their own bikes for the remainder of the day, they can do so at a cost of £33.
“It is a real coup for us to have Paul Malin with us for our day of riding in February,” stated Mark Fereday, Bridgestone’s training development manager. “Paul is one of the UK’s most talented and decorated riders and to have him testing out our tyres and offering his expert feedback will be invaluable.”
The free event arrives on the back of Bridgestone’s recent announcement to extend its title sponsorship of the BSMA’s Clubman’s Series in 2015, which showcases some of motocross’s brightest young talents at races across the UK. The brand has also agreed to sponsor young Gloucestershire talent Jack Timms for the new season, while extending an existing partnership with Worcestershire’s Rob Yates for a further 12 months. Both Yates, aged 17, and Timms, 19, will compete in the BSMA’s Clubman’s Series, amongst other national series, on their 250s and will be supported with clothing, tyres and essential equipment.
