Kumho supplying tyres to BMW 3 Series

Kumho Tire reports it is supplying its Ecsta HM in size 225/55R16 to BMW for fitment on certain 3 Series models produced in the company’s Munich and Regensburg factories in Germany.

“Kumho’s recent uplift in sales of OE tyres has been made possible by the company’s world-leading technology. We expect this achievement to significantly enhance our brand recognition in the international arena,” said Taek-Gyun Jeong, managing director of OE development at Kumho Tire. “We will continue to strengthen this technological prowess and brand power in order to further increase sales of OE products to premium car manufacturers, and generally accelerate our presence in the global market.”

For the past year, the Ecsta HM has also been supplied to Mercedes-Benz as original equipment for its B-Class. The compact Benz is fitted with size 195/65R15 91H tyres produced at Kumho’s Tianjin factory in China. Kumho Tire says its relationship with the BMW Group began in earnest in 2012, with the supply of the company’s Ecsta V70A in size 215/40 ZR17 83W for original fitment on the Mini John Cooper Works GP.
