Vipal Rubber opens UK distribution centre in Felixstowe

Brazilian tyre retreading specialist Vipal Rubber is further strengthening its presence in Europe with the opening of a new distribution centre in Felixstowe, the largest container port in the United Kingdom. The new 2,000 square metre Vipal centre has the capacity to store up to 500 tonnes of products, and was opened to cater to demand in Britain and Ireland; these markets were previously served by Vipal’s distribution centre in Germany.

“We perceived the need to increase agility in the process, which is why we pursued the partnership with Denholm to open the English centre,” explains Alessandro Campos, general manager of Vipal Europe. Denholm is part of a group of companies that operates in various segments, including shipping and logistics.

With the establishment of the new facility, which commences operations this month, Vipal intends to increase its market share in the region; the company says it aims for growth of up to eight per cent. Since Vipal’s products first arrived here in 2007, major customers such as Vacu Lug have helped the UK become one of the retreading product specialist’s ‘top five’ European markets.

In addition to the new centre in Felixstowe, Vipal has three other distribution centres in Europe, located in Spain, Germany and Slovenia. It also operates centres in Australia, Mexico, Colombia and three in the United States (Florida, Virginia and California).
