Bridgestone honoured for investments in Poland

Hiroyuki Osaki, managing director of Bridgestone’s Poznań plant, accepted the award at an event held at the Warsaw Stock Exchange

English-language Polish weekly the Warsaw Business Journal has honoured Bridgestone with an ‘Investment of the Year’ award. The financial publication chose Bridgestone as one of three recipients due to the funds ploughed of late into its Poznań and Stargard Szczeciński plants.

The production facility in Poznań is one of Bridgestone’s most modern plants and manufactures more than 29,500 tyres a day, including high performance tyres, run-flat tyres and the low rolling resistance Ologic tyres that are an exclusive fitment on the BMW i3. The expansion plans begun this year will lead to the creation of 200 new jobs there, and a further 120 new jobs in the Stargard Szczeciński truck and bus tyre plant, where a new production line capable of manufacturing 1,700 retreading treads a day recently entered service.

The Warsaw Business Journal’s Investment of the Year award is bestowed in partnership with the Polish Chamber of Commerce and was first given out in 2012. In addition to Bridgestone, this year German chemical company BASF and Swedish furniture firm Ikea were honoured for their investments.
