Falken support for Jake Archer’s Gymkhana Grid bid
Falken Tyre Europe will supply up and coming Gymkhana star Jake Archer with high performance tyres as he competes in final round of Gymkhana Grid
Falken Tyre Europe is once again underlining its commitment to accessible motorsport disciplines confirming it will provide tyres to rising star Jake Archer for the final round of Gymkhana Grid. Should Archer, who has already won the first two rounds, win the final, he will have the opportunity to take on internet sensation Ken Block in a head to head competition.
Gymkhana Grid, supported by the viral video YouTube star Ken Block, sees drivers memorise and then complete a sequence of drifts, figure of 8s, donuts and slaloms throughout Europe. The final round of the European series will take place in Madrid, Spain on 31stOctober where Archer will compete in the AWD category driving his 380bhp Subaru Impreza Wagon. Archer, 31, who also is in the top five of the Fueltopia Barrel Sprint series with just two rounds remaining, will switch to Falken rubber in a bid to boost his chances of victory.
Falken will supply ZIEX ZE914 road tyres to Archer, this pattern offering high levels of grip and control to make the tight and accurate turns needed for success. “Our tyres are renowned for a good blend of grip and performance and are at the right price point for this growing, accessible area of motorsport,” says Falken’s UK director Matt Smith. “The high levels of silicon will deliver good grip even at slow speeds, making them ideal for Gymkhana Grid. The fact that you can just turn up in a road car means you can use Falken tyres for the journey home too.”
“It’s brilliant to get the support from Falken,” adds Archer. “Some of the guys in its drift team are in the RWD class but it will be good to fly the Falken flag in the 4WD class.”
