Nokian winter tyres achieve top grades in German magazine tests

Two Nokian winter tyres have achieved top results in German magazine winter tests. The Finnish manufacturer’s WR SUV 3 won both the test and a top “highly recommended” rating in the winter tyre test of German magazine Off Road, while the WR D3 passenger car tyre won a test conducted by Deutscher Sprachraum automobile clubs.

Off Road called the WR SUV 3 “unbeatable on snow and ice”, making it the test winner for the second successive year. The tyre was rated strongest in the test in snow and ice traction, while on slush it offered the strongest grip. “The Nokian WR SUV 3 convinces on snow above all by its precision,” the magazine said. “Steering commands are executed lightning-fast, which is absolutely not self-evident in these hard conditions. And also on ice, the Nokian is unique in comparison to the competitors. Regarding objective measurements as well as subjective driving feel, it is a profile lengths ahead.” Six SUV winter tyres of size 215/65R16 102 H were tested by Off Road for its October issue.

Nokian’s WR D3 was “highly recommended” in the winter tyre test by German Auto Club Europe ACE and Austrian automobile club ARBÖ and GTÜ. The tyre demonstrated strength in traction, braking and handling on snow, while passing, beyond reproach, safety tests on wet and dry road. The tyre achieved the top score of all tested tyres in the criteria safety winter, safety dry and economic efficiency / environment. Ten size 205/55 R 16 tyres were tested on a VW Golf.
