“Most progressive” A/TW joins Cooper’s Discoverer range
Cooper Tire has unveiled what it calls its “most progressive SUV/light truck tyre yet” – the Discoverer A/TW. The tyre maker says the new tyre expands upon technology proven in the Discoverer A/T3 and “boasts a fusion of advanced compound technologies and design innovations.” A UK launch date has yet to be given, however an initial range of 23 sizes is being introduced from this month in North America, with additional sizes due to be added next spring.
The Discoverer A/TW features the 3PMSF winter symbol, and Cooper says “micro-gauge corrugated siping” and “Snowgroove 2.0” technology provide the tyre with numerous biting edges for “fierce snow-on-snow traction and superior winter performance for geographies that experience harsh winter conditions.”
“In our centennial year, Cooper continues to innovate like an upstart with this new all-terrain tyre,” said Scott Jamieson, Cooper’s director of product management. “Following in the footsteps of our successful Discoverer family product lineup, the A/TW far exceeds the standards set to earn the mountain snowflake symbol for superior snow capability.”
Computer optimized pitch sequence and twin tie-bars are incorporated in the Discoverer A/TW; Cooper says these features provide “excellent handling and control on roads and highways, adding stability and hydroplane resistance for wet conditions and reducing in-vehicle noise.” In addition, off-road adventures are supported by chevron grooves and cut and chip compound additives that complement the advanced all-terrain tread pattern to keep consumers moving steadily through mud, sand, rocks and loose soil.
