Singapore-based Stamford Tyres has officially opened its new £15 million Commercial Tyre Centre and warehouse at its headquarters in Jurong. The company says this new complex supports its existing facility at the site and will have a staff of 85 people. The all-new centre was constructed at a cost of £12.2 million, while a further £2.8 million has been invested in equipment, including six service bays for trucks offering ‘full life cycle’ facilities along with eight loading and unloading container bays.

The 22,591 square metre facility took two years to complete and can store up to 600,000 tyres; with its inauguration, the company’s overall warehousing capacity increases to one million tyres. The upper level of the Commercial Tyre Centre also incorporates a retreading plant in order to further support the company’s ‘Total Tyre Management’ businesses in Southeast Asia.

Stamford’s president and CEO Wee Kok Wah opened the new facility on Friday 25 April and stated that the launch of the Commercial Centre further underlines the company’s position as a recognised pioneering player in the international tyre market. “Commercial tyres has always been an important part of our business, which includes mining and construction, and Stamford’s ongoing success can be attributed to our determination to constantly build strong, inter-dependable business relationships in South East Asia and around the world,” he stated. “Our future objective is to provide even more efficient and professional products and services to our customers and business partners to ensure a solid foundation to propel Stamford tyres to even greater achievements in the future.”

Stamford currently distributes the Continental, Falken and Toyo brands alongside its Sumo Firenza private brand and operates a global distribution network spanning over 90 countries.
