Parts Alliance member takes on 100th employee in 30th year
Lancashire based member of The Parts Alliance BBC Superfactors has celebrated 30 years in business by taking on its 100th employee. The company has grown from selling brake pads and brake shoes to providing a full range of parts and accessories to a customer base 600 to 700 strong.
Managing director Gary Shulman has made the company a family concern, with 12 members of his extended family working in the business. Daughter Nicola, who started learning the ropes at 16, runs one of the branches, daughter Stacey is the financial director and son Declan works in sales.
Shulman started the company with Peter Rostron in May 1984 as Blackburn Brakes. As its offer extended from brake pads and shoes to selling filters, exhausts and spark plugs, it became Blackburn Brakes & Components. With expansion in other Lancashire towns the name changed again, to BBC Superfactors.
Today the business has branches in Blackburn, Accrington, Burnley, Rawtenstall, Clitheroe and Chorley, the most recent addition.
Shulman said: “We will continue to expand and grow. We still deal with some of the garages that bought from us 30 years ago. We have built the business on great customer service in the areas where we trade. We are good at what we do and have built up a strong customer base.
“We are proud to celebrate our 30 years anniversary and have also achieved another milestone by reaching 100 employees.”
