Rob Austin to blog on BTCC for HiQ
British Touring Car Championship Rob Austin has signed up as HiQ’s official series blogger, and in this first write-up for the season he shares on what’s gone down since the end of the 2013 season. When the BTCC action gets under way for this year, Austin will blog on the Monday after each race. The blog can be read on the hiqonline.co.uk website.
“I was really excited when HiQ approached me to blog for their fans,” commented Austin. “It’s something I’ve never done before, but snapped up the opportunity. This season is set to be a really exciting one for the team, the performance we have seen in the car since we started testing in early January has surpassed our expectations. We’re really buzzing for what lies ahead this year and the blog on HiQ Online is a chance to share the emotions and graft that a team goes through every race weekend.”
On securing Rob Austin as a blogger for the 2014 season, HiQ retail marketing manager Geraldine McGovern said: “We are delighted to have Rob onboard and blogging for the site on what is set to be a fantastic season. Through Rob’s blog, we will be able to capture firsthand the thrills and spills that a race weekend can deliver for a team.”
Rob Austin’s blog aims to provide an insight into the championship, the team and himself by focusing on his thoughts and feelings after each round. In his first blog entry, Austin said his team “took a kick in the nuts just before Christmas when a sponsor reneged on a deal we’d done.” Sounds painful, eye-watering even, yet happily Austin could add that Exocet and Duo filled the gap left by this unnamed non-sponsor. “We are in a better position than ever before,” he wrote.
