Maxxis to use Autosport appeal to raise Macmillan funds
Maxxis has announced its support for cancer charity Macmillan at the Autosport International show in January. The tyre manufacturer will host motorsport stars, racing cars and bikes, and its own Maxxis Babes team to pull in attendees at the Birmingham NEC. The company has targeted the figure of £500, which it hopes to exceed through calendar sales on the Saturday of the show.
UK managing director Derek McMartin commented: “Macmillan works tirelessly to change people’s lives for the better, and we want to help in any way we can. As a top ten tyre brand Maxxis has a rich history of supporting things like motorsport series, race teams and even a premier league football team, so giving to an organisation that does so much to improve healthcare is a little bit different for us – but I must say it’s very satisfying.”
Maxxis’ fundraising efforts will certainly be helped by the presence of six of the Maxxis Babes and the drivers from the Japspeed Drift Team – which includes singer turned racer Shane Lynch. All will be on-hand to sell and sign the calendars, which feature images of the girls, as well as the cars, bikes and quads from the motorsports Maxxis is involved in.
