Nokian launches CT BAS trailer tyre
Nokian Heavy Tyres says it has met user demand with its new Nokian CT BAS tyre for heavy trailers. Noting the challenges posed by construction site use, a surface typically featuring sharp rocks, nails and pieces of steel lying about, it says the CT BAS brings the tyre maker’s top-end puncture resistance technology, first developed for forestry applications, to construction sites. Furthermore, the BAS technology developed by Nokian Heavy Tyres enables the use of higher pressure levels.
Although robust, Nokian says the CT BAS “behaves smoothly” on the road and over uneven terrain. Additionally, the tyre’s large footprint offers predictability and good stability while unloading plus good flotation on soft surfaces, the tyre maker adds. Nokian also claims the tyre provides a low level of rolling resistance.
The tread pattern is designed to minimise the amount of mud, soil or rock the tyre carried onto the road. The open tread design and its form are intended to provide good self-cleaning properties, along with low rolling noise levels courtesy of a phase-shifting block array.
The Nokian CT BAS is now available in size 650/55R26.5 177D.
