Mitas introduces VF tyre for sprayers
At Agritechnica Mitas unveiled its Very High Flexion (VF) tyre for sprayer applications, the VF HC1000. The company displayed the new VF 380/90R46 173D HC 1000 TL on its show stand ahead of the range’s 2014 commercial launch.
The VF HC1000 is produced by Mitas in the US at the company’s Charles City, Iowa plant and offers a large footprint for reduced soil compaction and increased mobility under difficult and wet soil conditions. “Mitas developed the VF HC1000 tyre to meet the demand of increased load and speed requirements of agricultural machinery,” commented Andrew Mabin, Mitas’ sales and marketing director.
The Mitas VF tyre is “D” speed rated and can thus be used at speeds up to 65km/h or 40mph. The tyre also has a 62.5 per cent higher load capacity than a standard tyre and can carry a maximum load of 6,500 kilogrammes, even when using the same rims as would be used with a standard tyre.
The tyre maker also reports that as part of a US$53 million investment, in October 2013 it installed three additional presses at the Charles City facility in order to achieve an annual production capacity of 13,500 tonnes.
