7 millionth Goodyear UltraGrip 8 shipped

Goodyear has announced the shipment of its seven millionth UltraGrip 8 in Europe making the tyre one of its all-time leading winter products. The tyre, which launched in 2011, is the most recent in the UltraGrip branded range first launched in 1971. To date, over 60 million Ultragrips have been produced across eight generations of the product. The UltraGrip 8 generation takes credit for 12 per cent of that figure alone in the past three years.

“UltraGrip 8 builds on a legacy of winter tyres that started over 30 years ago, and today it is one of our leading winter tyres in Europe”, says Hugues Despres, Brand Director for Goodyear EMEA. “With 7 million tyres produced and fitted to date, the UltraGrip 8 is clearly a tyre of choice for our customers and we look forward to achieving new records with the tyre in the near future.”

If all cars fitted with an Ultragrip 8 received four tyres, Goodyear says that means some 1,750,000 cars in Europe’s winter regions were, or are, driving on UltraGrip8 during the coldest months of the year.
